Chelsea star all set for extended Stamford Bridge spell

Frank LampardThere is some possible good news on the horizon for Chelsea fans today in the Football Transfer Tavern

This is because Metro are reporting that Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is understood to be on the edge of penning a new contract with the Stamford Bridge club.

The 35-year-old England international sees his existing contract expire at the end of the season but there have been concerns that he could depart for pastures new.

However today’s speculation indicates that the legendary midfielder will now be rewarded with a final one-year contract that will take him up to his 36th birthday.

Lampard joins Ashley Cole and John Terry in seeing their contracts finish at the club but with Jose Mourinho keen to keep hold of his experienced players we can expect to see them all extending their long-term stays at Stamford Bridge.

The former West Ham United man had been linked with a big-money money to the MLS but now he could be offered a small coaching role as his team position lessens.

But this will see Lampard ending his marvellous career at Stamford Bridge as punters think is right.

Are Chelsea right to keep hold of Lampard or do you think is it time to let him leave the club? Let us know your thoughts below.
