Chelsea fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern have been heavily discussing the future of Fernando Torres since the arrival of Jose Mourinho, with many believing the Spaniard could soon be on his way out of Stamford Bridge but Sky Sports report this is far from the truth.
However, the Premier League’s most expensive ever player has had his say, telling Spanish publication Onda Cero that he has no interest in a move to La Liga giants Barcelona, despite the recent speculation.
The Catalan outfit have been linked with a move for the former Liverpool man, mainly due to Torres’ friendship with Barca president Sandro Rosell, and the fact he was recently labelled ‘so-so’ by Jose Mourinho upon his arrival, although the Chelsea number 9 has moved quickly to deny reports he could be on his way.
“I have known Sandro Rosell for a long time,” he told Onda Cero. “There is a personal relationship but nothing more than that.”
“I look forward to talking with Mourinho and to know what plans he has for me,” Torress added.
“The first thing I am aware of is he will expect much more from me, I expect more from me. Now I have pressure Mourinho adds and that’s a challenge for a player.
“I want to talk with Mourinho and then prepare for the coming season.”
Torres is currently at the Confederations Cup on international duty with Spain. He was however benched for the opening game against Uruguay in favour of Valencia forward Roberto Soldado.
