Our Chelsea faithful here in the Football Transfer Tavern refuse to get excited at the latest claim coming from The Times who seem to think that Fernando Torres is closing in on a move to AC Milan.
The Blues flop has so far refused to leave Chelsea due to his wage demands not being met by any other side.
With two years left on his current deal, Jose Mourinho and the Blues board have been powerless to resist the forward (if you can call him that!) running down his contract.
However, with a potential injury to Diego Costa scaring Mourinho, it seems that the West London club are willing to allow Torres to depart and bring in Roma’s Mattia Destro to build up their squad.
That would still leave room for another foreign player to leave with Petr Cech being heavily linked with a move to Ligue 1 and the Champions League squad having to be named next week.
As one of our punters notes, it is a good thing Costa’s injury is not as bad as first thought. Every Chelsea fan in the tavern concedes that the Blues have to sign another forward as an absolute priority this summer.
Chelsea fans. Do you think Torres has scored his last goal for Chelsea? Even if he stays for another twenty years, do you think he will ever score again? Let us know your thoughts below.
