Metro have a rather interesting claim today for punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern to chew over as they think that John Obi Mikel is still uncertain regarding his future at Chelsea.
Since Jose Mourinho arrived back at Stamford Bridge, the midfielder has seen speculation over his future hit fever pitch and now it has even been claimed that he could well be set to join former team-mate and friend Didier Drogba in Turkey at Galatasaray.
It had seemed that the move was virtually a done deal with even the player himself admitting his future lay elsewhere – yet now it seems that after failing to land Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso, Mourinho may well be altering his stance regarding the Nigerian international and could well be set to hand him a reprieve.
Mikel himself noted that a move away from the club is the most likely scenario and claimed that: “I have a four-year contract with Chelsea but you know, in football you can never guess.
“One day you are here, the next day you might leave.”
Of course should Mourinho let the player leave, he will have to bring in a replacement and it remains to be seen exactly who he would look to bring in given Alonso is reportedly not for sale under any circumstances.
Will the long serving midfielder stay or go this summer? Do you want him to remain at Stamford Bridge? Let us know your thoughts below.
