John Obi Mikel is determined to leave Chelsea according to the Daily Mirror and our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern aren’t too flustered by the Nigerian’s latest stance.
The midfielder has been a long serving Chelsea player, but has only started two games since Nemanja Matic arrived from Benfica in January, and Jose Mourinho has made it very clear who his first choice players are.
Mikel is happy at Stamford Bridge, but knows that at this stage in his career, he needs to be playing week in, week out and not sitting on the bench.
The player has often been linked with the exit door at Chelsea but has always stayed at the club. Under Jose Mourinho however, the 26-year-old has become frustrated with life at the club and will push to leave in the summer.
As our punters note, the player does have three years left on his current deal and Chelsea will not allow one of their most consistent players to go on the cheap.
Galatasaray are keen on Mikel, who of course has close links with Didier Drogba, and a move to Turkey seems to be the most likely option for the player at present.
Will Mikel change his mind and remain at Chelsea? Let us know your thoughts below.
