Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are eager to hear the latest claim from the Daily Star.
The publication have noted that Fernando Torres is open to a move back to his former club Atletico Madrid – and thus away from Chelsea this summer.
As our punters note, the Spanish forward has been better than usual this season under Jose Mourinho, but has still struggled and is certainly not one of the best in the world, as he formerly was.
Jose Mourinho and his club will be looking to bring in a world class forward this summer, and Torres could well find himself facing the exit door.
Our landlord stops pouring a round of pints and manages to note that Torres seems willing to leave the club, and is not ruling out a move home to Spain.
He claimed: “In football you never know. You don’t know where you are going to be tomorrow, in a week’s time or in ten years time.
“I’ve had a lot of admiration for Simeone ever since we were team-mates.
“He helped me a lot. He taught me how to be a captain; he taught me a lot in the seasons we played together at Atleti.”
Torres did have something good to say about his current manager, noting that he is happy to work with someone he admires – like Mourinho.
Do you think Atleti would even take the flop that is Torres back? Let us know your thoughts below.
