The Daily Star certainly has Chelsea fans looking up here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim Kurt Zouma means business – and does not intend to go out on loan.
As one of our punters notes over a pint, we were pretty convinced that the young French star would join the ever growing number of young Chelsea players who are farmed out on loan to various clubs in order to build up the experience they could not get at Stamford Bridge.
However, former Saint-Etienne defender Zouma has other ideas.
The defender noted that he had spoken to Jose Mourinho during his arrival at pre-season training and noted: “Initially it will be a period of adaptation but I hope I can improve as a player, get into the team and just play as many matches as possible.”
After officially joining Chelsea for £12 million from Les Verts during the January transfer window, Zouma then spent the second half of last season back with Saint-Etienne but does not see that happening again.
One of our punters notes that should he be a success during pre-season, Mourinho may decide not to shell out on another defender and use his young starlet instead.
Chelsea fans. Is it time for you to give the young stars a chance or do you need experience in order to lift the title? Let us know your thoughts below.
