Chelsea star offered £8m contract on the continent?

Ashley ColeChelsea fans are looking quite disheartened in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening after watching their side slip up at Crystal Palace yesterday.

Manager Jose Mourinho has now written up his team’s chances in the title race although that is likely to be premature with lots of twists and turn remaining.

Now The Sun are reporting that Blues left back Ashley Cole could join La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer after being offered an £8 million two-year contract worth £75,000-a-week.

The England centurion will be free to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season when his existing contract expires and he is yet to be offered a new contract by Mourinho.

And that could see Real Madrid making their long-awaited move during the summer.

A Bernabeu source told The Sun: “Ashley is a world class player and Madrid have wanted to sign him for some time.

“It is now the perfect opportunity as he is free.”

Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was previously in charge of the Blues between 2009 and 2011 where he formed a strong working relationship with the 33-year-old defender.

This could see Cole deciding to end his spell with Chelsea after losing his spot to Cesar Azpilicueta this term

Can you see Cole heading to the Bernabeu to work with Ancelotti once more? Let us know your thoughts below.
