Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern are moving over to the bar and asking our landlord what the latest claim from the Daily Star is, and they are not going to be disappointed.
According to the publication, Ashley Cole is leading the wishlist held by Claudio Ranieri this summer – and as we know, the Monaco boss knows how his former club Chelsea work rather well.
The left back is out of contract in the summer and unlike captain John Terry, does not look like getting a new deal, with Jose Mourinho leaving him on the sidelines for a huge part of the season so far.
Whilst Ranieri may not have managed Cole himself, the manager is well aware just how good the former Arsenal left back is, and we think that any club who lands him in the summer have got themselves a world class player.
Monaco have also been linked with Manchester United left back Patrice Evra, who also looks set to depart the Premier League this summer.
As our punters note over a pint and a burger, there could well be a fight over Luke Shaw, who both Chelsea and United want to replace their outgoing defensive stars.
Will Cole join Ranieri in Ligue 1 and live in the tax free haven? Let us know your thoughts below.
