Metro have a claim that punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are rather keen on hearing.
The publication have claimed that Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is set to open talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a summer move.
After the dismal performance from Fernando Torres last night, our punters think that Chelsea could do with Lukaku’s goals, but it seems that manager Jose Mourinho does not agree.
It seems clear that Chelsea will allow Lukaku to leave in the summer and Spurs are keen on the Belgian forward who has netted 13 times in 26 appearances on loan at Everton this term.
When asked about the future of the former Anderlecht forward, his agent Christophe Henrotay claimed: “I’m looking for a club for Romelu.
“And yes, I’ve talked to Daniel Levy once, but that doesn’t mean Romelu will definitely join Spurs. That’s not a talking point at this moment.
“There aren’t 20 teams that can afford to buy Romelu. He won’t go from Everton to, let’s say, Swansea.
“There’s also a difference between Everton that plays against relegation and an Everton that fights for European football.”
As our punters note over a pint, it is clear that Lukaku is on the move, and we would love for him to stay in England.
