Chelsea’s John Terry is talk of the Football Transfer Tavern today and after The Independent claimed he is set to be offered a new deal, we are not surprised.
The Blues defender has been brilliant all season and the partnership formed with Gary Cahill has been a key part of the success the West London side have enjoyed.
Despite a rough couple of games for Chelsea and their skipper, Jose Mourinho feels that the future at Stamford Bridge includes John Terry in it and the Blues and willing to offer the player a new deal.
The offer on the table is a one-year extension worth slightly less money than JT is on now, but of course the player and his agent are pushing for more.
Mourinho spoke about his skipper’s future and noted: “The manager wants him to stay; the club know I want him to stay, the club want him to stay, he wants to stay, so normally he is staying.”
That is brilliant news for Chelsea fans ahead of a tough week for their club with the crunch quarter-final second leg fixture against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, where they will need Terry to show exactly why he is worth a new deal if they even want to have a hope of progressing.
Will Chelsea cave in and offer Terry the terms he is asking for to see his career out at the club? Let us know your thoughts below.
