Chelsea star poised for Turkish switch?

mikel.jpgMetro have a sensational story for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that long serving Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is all set to join Turkish giants Galatasaray this summer.

The Nigerian international who is currently competing at the Confederations Cup has been on the fringes of the Chelsea side for sometime now and after winning just about everything there is to win at the club, coupled with the departure of his best friends last season in Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba, the player now thinks that it is time for a change and is set to link up with Drogba in Turkey next season.

The Istanbul-based side are willing to pay £7 million for the player Jose Mourinho has told he has no future at the club upon his return.

Mikel noted: “I have played at Chelsea for a long time and it’s now time for me to leave.

“I’m still only 26 and it’s great to receive an offer from a club [Galatasaray] playing Champions League football and doing well in the competition.”

“Talks have reached an advanced level between Chelsea and Galatasaray. Chelsea won’t make the move difficult and regarding my salary there won’t be a problem. All that is left is for the clubs to reach an agreement.”

Will Mikel earn a summer move to the Turkish top flight? Rate this rumour below.
