The Daily Mail carry a rather interesting story for Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as they note that Juan Mata does not think he will be leaving Chelsea this summer but admits to not having met the new manager Jose Mourinho as yet.
It does seem strange to Chelsea fans that there is even the slightest bit of doubt over the future of simply one of their best players in recent seasons and given the amount of minutes Mata has played over the last two years both for club and country, not to mention the returns from this and his tender years, the claims Mourinho would look to sell the creative player did seem wide of the mark.
Despite the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle and the talent already in the middle of the park, Mata does not think he will leave and claimed to Marca that
“Nobody at Chelsea has told me that Mourinho wants me out.
“When I finished the season I was told that they were very happy with my performances and with the two years I’ve spent with the club.
“I have three years left on my contract. I’m very happy with Chelsea.
“Mourinho? I’d prefer to wait until I meet him and work with him before I judge him. That’s simple logic.”
