Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are sat up with interest as the Daily Mirror claims one of their favourite players could well be set for talks over their future.
Much has been made over the Juan Mata situation since the return of Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge and now it seems that the player, his representatives and the coaching staff are set to have a frank conversation over his future.
Mata is highly concerned over his chances of making the Spanish World Cup squad and as our landlord points out, given the utter quality of the side, it comes as no surprise.
Chelsea’s former double Player of the Year has found himself on the sidelines of late and has not been impressed.
There are a host of suitors looking at the 25-year-old, including the likes of Altetico Madrid. The table topping La Liga side are considering a swoop for the player, especially should they lose their current star man in the middle Koke, who is a target for Manchester United.
There is of course also the option of sending Mata out on loan but that is not something that Mourinho or the Chelsea board are particularly keen on doing either.
Will Juan Mata be staying at Stamford Bridge this January transfer window? Let us know your thoughts below.
