Just when Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern thought they had seen the last of Fernando Torres, Metro seem to think differently.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that Torres could well have a future at Stamford Bridge.
The Spanish forward has been rather, well, as disappointing as usual this term and given the links with Atletico Madrid hitman Diego Costa, we were almost certain that Nando’s time at Stamford Bridge had come and gone.
In fact the majority of Chelsea fans here in the tavern seem to favour the likes of Demba Ba staying at the club, given his big performances when the Blues have needed him the most, unlike Torres.
We also want to see Romelu Lukaku back at the club – and cannot understand why Torres is the one likely to stay after Mourinho noted: “Yes he’s in my plans [for next season]. He’s a good player.”
The Blues are in dire need of at least two forwards and we think that should they keep Torres and actually rely on him again next season, they will once again be ending the campaign trophyless.
Things have to change at Stamford Bridge next term and smart money will be on the fact that up top is where we will see the majority of the reinforcements.
Do you think that Torres will stay at Stamford Bridge? Is this a massive mistake for Mourinho to make? Let us know your thoughts below.
