Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are breathing a sigh of relief today, after reports stated a star player will sign a new deal and reject a move to a Premier League rival.
The Sun states Brazilian ace Willian, who was a stand-out player in Chelsea’s disappointing campaign last term, will sign a four-year extension with the Blues and subsequently snub the interest of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
Willian was the shining light in a dismal campaign for Chelsea last term and Mourinho, who managed the South American at Stamford Bridge, was keen to bring the talented wide player to Manchester United with him.
However, Willian’s representatives are thrashing out the final details of a new deal, which will see the soon to be 28-year-old secured to the west London giants until he’s in the twilight years of his career.
Our landlord believes this is a very important deal for Chelsea, as he was concerned at what sort of message a sale would send, and the punters in the bar unanimously agree with his views.
