Our punters are looking surprised here in the Football Transfer Tavern after reading Metro’s claim.
The publication have claimed that Barcelona are still tracking David Luiz despite being subject to a transfer embargo this summer.
The Chelsea defender has long been linked with the Cules but as one of our regulars notes over a pint and a burger, given the transfer ban handed down to the Catalan side, we thought Luiz might well have to stay at Chelsea – or go to one of his other admirers.
For a player who so many, including his manager, think is a liability, Luiz has a fair few suitors with both Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain also keen on landing him in the summer.
Luiz is versatile and can play in the middle of the park and also at the back – if you don’t mind conceding a few goals- and will go or big money should Chelsea chose to sell him.
Our regulars claim that the Blues will be looking for around £38 million for the Brazilian – and that money could go towards bringing in a player like Diego Costa – someone Chelsea are in dire need of.
Do you think Chelsea will sell Luiz or will Mourinho keep the mishap of a defender? Let us know your thoughts below.
