Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up from their pints after the Daily Mail claimed they could well lose David Luiz.
The Brazilian defender is now being tracked by not only Barcelona but also Bayern Munich and we think this situation will spark a summer bidding war.
Whilst most players are more concerned with the World Cup this summer, there is no doubt in the minds of our regulars that Luiz will also have to think about his long-term domestic future.
Despite featuring slightly more towards the end of the season – albeit in a midfield role, Jose Mourinho has made it very clear he does not see a future for the Brazilian at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are very aware that they need to sell before they can buy big and Luiz can command a transfer fee of around £25 million upwards.
That would buy at least one more forward and we think Chelsea are in dire need of those!
Do you think Jose Mourinho will be more than willing to entertain a bidding war for his defender if Bayern and Barcelona are keen on adding Luiz to their ranks? Let us know your thoughts below.
