Shock is not the world for Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the Daily Telegraph claimed they could be willing to allow Petr Cech to leave.
The Czech Republic international goalkeeper has of course been one of the mainstays in the Chelsea side over the years and we would be surprised to see him leave SW6.
However as the publication notes, Chelsea and manager Jose Mourinho are aware that the 31-year-old has plenty of playing time left in him.
The fact that he may potentially have to play second fiddle to returning Thibaut Courtois is something they are wary of.
Cech has made it very clear that he does not take his place in the Chelsea starting line-up for granted, but at the same time he would not be willing to spend a season sat on the bench waiting for the FA Cup games to roll around.
To lose Cech would obviously be a huge blow for the Blues but we think that it is time for Courtois to come in and take the number one jersey now given another outstanding season for Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid.
Will Cech look to secure a move to another club this summer given the impending return of Thibaut Courtois? Let us know your thoughts below.
