But when he’s got offers from some of the biggest clubs in Europe it’s not as if he’s making that much of a sacrifice especially as most Premier League clubs probably couldn’t afford his wages.
But Spanish giants Real Madrid can definitely afford the former England internationals’ wages and according to Metro they’re prepared to offer him a two-year contract.
It’s rumoured that the two-year deal could be worth up to £10 million and comes after the 33-year-old’s release from Chelsea this summer.
The West London club decided to tie down John Terry for another deal and Frank Lampard is also believed to be close to securing a one-year extension at Stamford Bridge.
But Cole has been unable to agree terms and it now seems he may be set to join one of Europe’s elite.
And it’s not just Real Madrid that are interested as French duo Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are also keeping tabs on the former Arsenal and Crystal Palace defender.
But it’s thought that linking up with Ancelotti again in Madrid would be the key to luring the defender to Spain.
Chelsea fans. If he’s good enough for Real Madrid then surely he’s good enough for Chelsea? Let us know your thoughts below.
