Metro have a rather interesting claim for us punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
They claim that Chelsea are set to receive a decision on the future of their up and coming goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois by Spring.
As our landlord points out, we are probably selling Courtois short by calling him up and coming, with the stopper showing exactly how much he can do in La Liga whilst he has been on loan at high flying Atletico Madrid.
The side are joint top of La Liga, going strong in Europe and the Copa del Rey and would love to land the Belgium number one on a permanent basis. They are not the only side keen on the player however, with Catalan giants Barcelona also eyeing him.
Courtois himself would prefer to go back to parent club Chelsea on a permanent basis, but is still concerned about getting ahead of current number one Petr Cech, who of course is still one of the best in the world.
When asked about his future, the young Belgian noted that he expects a decision to be made over his long-term future by the end of the season, claiming that by March or April, he would know for sure where he will be playing his trade next term.
Will Chelsea be keeping Courtois or does his long-term future reside away from Stamford Bridge? Let us know your thoughts below.
