A group of Chelsea supporters are sat in the Football Transfer Tavern before their FA Cup clash against Manchester City.
They have been left intrigued by the latest speculation coming into the bar.
The news comes from Hannah Duncan at Metro who explains that Chelsea’s veteran defender Ashley Cole will wait until the end of the current campaign before making any decisions on his future.
The 33-year-old will be free to move on in the summer as his contract comes to an end and that could see the former Arsenal man departing Stamford Bridge for a fresh start.
The Blues have operated a policy of only offering their older players a one-year deal for the last few seasons and that sees John Terry, Frank Lampard and Cole all potentially leaving in the summer.
Cole penned an extension last year but as yet the Blues have not tabled anything.
Duncan confirms that this delay in providing the England international left back with a new contract could see him moving on with a host of suitors including Liverpool and New York Bulls all eyeing his services.
Now Cole is expected to wait until the end of the season, whether Chelsea offer a fresh deal or not.
It is understood that Mourinho wants to keep his legion of older players for at least one more season but Cole may make his mind up for him by signing a contract elsewhere.
Is Cole worthy of another deal or is it time to let him move on? Let us know your thoughts below.
