Chelsea starlet to be offered Bundesliga escape route?

debruyne.jpgThe Football Transfer Tavern is full of Chelsea supporters this evening as they reflect on last night’s Champions League victory in Romania.

One player that was not part of the Jose Mourinho’s squad for the 4-0 away win in Bucharest was Belgian starlet Kevin De Bruyne.

The Independent now report that the youngster could be given an escape route by Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen who want to sign him in January.

The Belgian, who enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell at the Bundesliga side last season, has started only two Barclays Premier League matches this term.

He was left out of the squad for Tuesday night’s Champions League trip to Steaua Bucharest, with questions over his omission prompting Blues boss Jose Mourinho to call a halt to his pre-match press conference in dramatic fashion.

Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin has now told German newspaper the Bild: “Should Kevin be unhappy, we are an eager first contact.

“I am in contact with his agent and am informed about Kevin’s situation at Chelsea.”

The 22-year-old scored 10 goals in 32 Bundesliga games in an impressive campaign for Bremen last season.

Eichin added: “I know Kevin, if he doesn’t play it is certainly a big problem for him.

“Let’s wait and see what happens in the winter. We will be ready, if there is a possibility, to get him.”

Does De Bruyne deserve another chance to impress at Stamford Bridge or is there no long-term future for him with the Blues? Let us know your thoughts below.
