Chelsea fans are looking worried here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Sunday Express claim that Mohamed Salah could well be on his way out of the club.
That is not because Chelsea are looking to sell him but more worryingly because Egypt have declared that the winger needs to return home to serve in the military for anything from 12 months upwards.
Now as one of our punters notes, Salah can hardly refuse should he be asked to go back given it would effect his work permit visa with the Blues and as our landlord points out over pouring a pint, this is a tricky situation for all involved.
Salah was exempt from the mandatory service due to his place on an ‘education scheme’ yet that has now been rescinded by the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education.
This means a return home to Egypt for the 22-year-old could become a problem if he wants to leave again without complying with their request.
Chelsea fans have not yet seen the best of Salah and we think this could be a make or break season for the former FC Basel winger.
