Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, Chelsea fans are slightly confused at the latest claim coming from the Daily Mail.
The publication seem to think that Demba Ba’s future is still up in the air.
The Senegalese forward has been linked with a move to West Ham United and also Turkish side Trabzonspor, yet the injury to Fernando Torres seems to have put that on ice, at least for the foreseeable future.
Ba has been on the fringes of the Chelsea side this season and has not convinced manager Jose Mourinho at all.
Mourinho is of course one of the most demanding and successful managers around and will not tolerate a forward who is not firing.
However, as one of our punters notes, he is also known for bringing the best out of players.
Over a pint, our landlord notes that Ba is certainly one that he will be looking to do that with now. Chelsea have no other option!
Despite West Ham failing in a move for the player, Trabzonspor claimed: “We had agreed terms with Demba Ba.
“However, following Fernando Torres’ injury (Jose) Mourinho made it clear that they didn’t want to let go of Ba just yet. Despite this we are still interested in Ba.”
Would it be foolish of Mourinho to let Ba depart this January when Torres remains injured? Let us know your thoughts below.
