Chelsea fans are stunned at the claim coming from Metro here in the Football Transfer Tavern and cannot believe the level of disrespect that has been shown to Petr Cech.
The Blues’ long-serving keeper is set to be shown the exit door at Stamford Bridge according to Belgium manager Marc Wilmots, with his seemingly private conversation overheard and repeated.
Wilmots is of course the international manager for Belgium, who Thibaut Courtois represents and knows the Chelsea number one-elect well.
He was asked about the future of Courtois and Cech in a private conversation with former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier which was broadcast upon the Belgian RTBF television service.
When questioned about Courtois’ future, Wilmots claimed: “He will go back to Chelsea.”
He was then asked directly if Chelsea will sell Cech and claimed: “If possible, yes.”
One of our punters claims that given the back door departures of Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole, fans will not be too keen to see the same thing happen to Cech, who has provided the club with nothing but loyal service over the years.
One thing is for sure; Jose Mourinho will certainly not appreciate his transfer plans being broadcast so publicly!
Chelsea fans. Do you think that bringing in Courtois is worth losing Cech or is this a massive mistake? Let us know your thoughts below.
