This is because The Guardian report that Thibaut Courtois has penned a new five-year deal at the club – and the end for Petr Cech is nigh.
We have to admit, our regulars were shocked that Cech stayed through the summer transfer window.
However, as our landlord notes over pouring a perfect pint, the long serving Chelsea star clearly thought he could win his place in the side back but after seeing the form Courtois is in, that seems less and less likely after each fixture.
Jose Mourinho made his choice at the start of the season and we have to agree with it.
Some of our Blues regulars note the eerily similar circumstances from when Cech first won his place in the side from Carlo Cudicini, but that is football for you.
A loan deal for Cech in January seems to be on the cards but as our punters note, Chelsea and Mourinho would love to have both keepers for the season.
That said, we feel a bit sorry for the sides Chelsea will be playing in the domestic cup competitions if they have to face Cech!
Chelsea fans. Given the cracking form of Courtois, surely Cech won’t remain on the Chelsea substitutes bench beyond January? Let us know your thoughts below.
