Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are left bemused after the London Evening Standard reported that Chelsea are still negotiating with Fiorentina over Juan Cuadrado.
This comes after Jose Mourinho assured Chelsea fans that there was nothing going on with Colombian winger in his recent press conferences.
But it is apparent that the Blues are still in talks with the Italian club over the potential purchase of the 26-year-old.
The Blues are yet to agree a fee but the good news for Chelsea is that due to the decline in the value of the Euro, the €35 million release clause in his contract has dropped from £26.8 million to £26.1 million over the past few days.
Chelsea are refusing to pay such a high price for him but the clause in his contract expires in a few days time and then Fiorentina will be able to charge what they want.
Chelsea are reportedly going to raise the necessary funds by selling Andre Schurrle or Mohamed Salah who were both absent from the squad that defeated Liverpool last night to reach the Capital One Cup Final.
Chelsea fans. Despite Jose Mourinho’s denial, do you think Juan Caudrado will arrive at Stamford Bridge by the deadline on February 2nd? Let us know your thoughts below.
