Chelsea striker ‘expected’ to sign new deal this summer – report

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting big things from young Tammy Abraham…

The Englishman has been a revelation over the last year so, having made a relatively low profile move to Bristol City turn into a career-defining one. Having scored 23 goals in his debut campaign in the Championship, the Englishman is now one of the most sought after strikers in English football.

It will come as no surprise, then, to learn that the Blues are looking to tie the player down to a new contract. According to the Chronicle Live, Chelsea are looking to extend his contract this summer, with a reported offer of over £45,000-per-week likely to be tabled.

It certainly makes sense for the Blues to look to secure the future of Abraham, with the Englishman one their most prized young assets at this point. Proven in the Championship, an impending loan to Newcastle could well be the making of him.

Indeed, the significance of a renewal is particularly important in the current context, given that Chelsea recently lost Dominic Solanke to Liverpool because they were unable to come to terms on a new deal. Interestingly, Solanke frequently used to lead the line for the Blues’ developmental teams alongside Abraham, and so their career trajectories will be interesting to follow.

Our landlord is expecting big things from Abraham this season, with a return to Chelsea potentially on the cards next season.
