Chelsea striker set to become subject of bid from former club this summer

Chelsea are in the market for several new additions during the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen which players will make way for any potential new recruits at Stamford Bridge.

Our new glass collector here in the Tavern is a Chelsea supporter and he thinks that some big name players could depart the club this summer as Antonio Conte goes about making his mark on the squad.

The Sunday Mirror are reporting that striker Diego Costa could be about to return to former club Atletico Madrid who are preparing to table a big for the player this week.

Costa has already been told he is not part of Chelsea’s plans next season by the Italian boss and will probably be open to the idea of returning to La Liga with his former club.

The only slight implication on any deal is the FIFA-imposed transfer ban on the Spanish side which prevents them from signing any players until January.

Although the club will be able to do business in January they would need to persuade the Premier League champions to keep Costa until the mid-season transfer window, whilst they will also ask the Blues to keep him out of their Champions League squad to avoid him being ineligible for the latter stages.

One Chelsea supporter is sat chatting to the Tavern’s new glass collector and they are both in agreement that Costa can be replaced, stating that if they can secure the signing of Alvaro Morata it will soon be a case of Diego who?

Chelsea fans, would you welcome the departure of the influential striker? Let us know in the comments below!!!
