The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are very excited for the future of their attacking line…
With reports that Diego Costa is closing in on a new contract with the Blues generating a lot of excitement amongst the Blues in the pub, many are also looking towards young Tammy Abraham as a potential star for next season.
With 18 goals under his belt already, the Englishman looks destined to move from the Championship to the Premier League next season, and many are hoping that he links up with the Chelsea first team straight away.
Antonio Conte, then, will surely have been keen to keep an eye on Abraham in the final few months of the 2016/17 season – but those hopes may well have suffered a pretty significant blow.
He said: “He has done something to his thigh although we don’t know to what extent yet”.
Elaborating, he continued: “Tammy is gutted because he thinks it’s something serious. We hope that isn’t the case”.
City are obviously remaining hopeful, but the fact that Tammy Abraham himself is concerned that the injury could be serious does not bode well. The Englishman is flying in the Championship, and it would be a real shame to see him miss the tail end of the season.
This could be an issue for Chelsea, as it could mean that the Englishman fails to end the season as he started it. This could, as a result, have an adverse effect on confidence and could slow down his progression into the Chelsea first team.
You would think that with games going through until May – Abraham will be hoping for a return this season, regardless of the extent of his injury.
