The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely devastated about this…
Diego Costa has been taking all of the plaudits at Stamford Bridge this season for his fine performances, but Chelsea’s fantastic performances have not solely been down to the contributions of their prolific frontman.
Eden Hazard has been a close second at Chelsea with regards to first team contributions, with the impressive winger finally regaining his swagger after a poor campaign last season.
In recent weeks, Hazard has really kicked on – popping up with a few goals and generally contributing efficiently to Antonio Conte’s side. He really has made the left wing his own this season.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were devastated, then, to hear the news that the Belgian has been, according to the Guardian, ruled out of Chelsea’s clash with Sunderland – scheduled to take place this evening.
Hazard reportedly suffered the injury against West Brom last weekend, leaving Antonio Conte sweating ahead of a very important run of fixtures.
The injury will likely mean the return of Willian into the Chelsea first team – with the Brazilian on the cusp of a starting role over the last few weeks. A goal a few weeks ago against Man City suggested that the Brazilian was more than ready for a starting berth – and it would appear that he will get that chance tonight.
Our landlord thinks that Chelsea will need to work extra hard in order to cover the absence of Hazard – as the Belgian really is one of the players that makes this side tick.
Hazard has been a near constant for Chelsea this season, making 15 appearances in the league and scoring 8 goals in the process.
