The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been loving the prospect of Alex Sandro moving to Stamford Bridge…
However, a recent update from the Evening Standard appears to contradict those reports, with a move now looking increasingly unlikely. According to the Evening Standard, Sandro is set to stay at Juventus this summer and sign a new deal, with the departure of Leonardo Bonucci playing a key role in Juventus’ decision to hang on to the Brazilian.
Of course, Sandro, who is rated at £29.75m by Transfer Markt, is one of Juventus’ best players, and whilst representing The Old Lady he has become one of Europe’s most talented defenders. An attacking full-back, he would have fit perfectly into Chelsea’s wing-back system, but it doesn’t appear that the move will come to be.
That being said, our landlord isn’t sure that this is the worst news in the world. Whilst Marcos Alonso didn’t exactly set the world alight last season, the Spaniard proved his worth under Antonio Conte, and our landlord is backing him to impress next season.
