Conte summer plans take another frustrating turn as Blues make transfer decision

For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, their side’s lack of transfer progress is causing a lot of concern…

The trio of Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko have already come in, but Chelsea are still very short on squad depth, and it doesn’t appear as though that situation is going to change anytime soon – particularly in the attacking department.

According to the Daily Star, Chelsea are refusing to be pushed into a bidding war for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata – with AC Milan currently rivalling the Blues for his signature. It is said that Chelsea were willing to pay up to £63 million for the striker, but that may no longer be the case, and with Real Madrid still standing firm, a move still looks like it will be very difficult to secure.

It has been a frustrating summer for the Blues so far, and despite a couple of recent signings, things are still not looking very good for Antonio Conte. Indeed, with Diego Costa still likely to leave the club – given that he has yet to return to training – a new forward is an absolute priority, so news that a move for Morata will be difficult will surely frustrate the Italian.

The Spaniard bagged 15 La Liga goals last season under difficult circumstances, and so the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been desperate for him to join – but it looks like Roman Abramovich has other ideas.
