Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern endured another difficult weekend after their side crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Everton, with the biggest talking point by the pool tables being the dismissal of a key player.
The Daily Mirror says that Diego Costa will escape punishment for an alleged bite after Everton midfielder Gareth Barry denied the Spaniard bit him, although the striker could still be handed a further ban.
Controversial striker Costa was handed his marching orders in the second-half after picking up a second yellow card for a confrontation with Barry, where the forward appeared to go for his opponents neck in a situation that brings back memories of a certain Luis Suarez.
However, with Barry stating that the suspected incident did not occur, the FA will not take any further action- but they could still charge the striker with a breach of conduct, after he failed to leave the field immediately after his dismissal.
With the possibility of the ban turning into a two-match absence, the fans in the bar are concerned as to what this means for Chelsea’s push for European football as they don’t trust the other strikers at the club to do the required job.
