Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are about to be dealt a blow courtesy of Metro as the publication claim they have been issued with a firm hands-off warning for one of their top striking targets.
The Blues are looking to replace Fernando Torres and only have a couple of days to do it and things are becoming a little bit desperate.
Italian international Mattia Destro has been one of the players so heavily linked with the Blues that we almost thought that it was a done deal.
However, with Roma president James Pallotta claiming Chelsea will not be landing the 23-year-old this summer or indeed at all, Jose Mourinho may well have to look elsewhere.
Pallotta claimed: “Destro is absolutely not for sale and never has been.
“We receive offers continually, because he’s a great player, but we have no intention of selling him.
“He’ll stay 100 per cent and we close an excellent transfer market.”
Destro is one of the best young players around in Europe and will have to be on the very top of his game after the Serie A side found themselves in the group of death in the Champions League!
Chelsea fans. Where will you turn now? Who do you think will be the one Mourinho turns to? Will he still try and get Destro? Let us know your thoughts below.
