Chelsea target alternative French midfielder

Sissoko.jpgWhilst queuing for the busy Football Transfer Tavern, Jamie Anderson of the Daily Star whispered to some Chelsea fans of a new potential player they could be signing in the January transfer window.

The Blues are said to be plotting a £17m move for the French ace Moussa Sissoko, with some reports even claiming that they made an enquiry this summer only to have it battered away.

He arrived in the North East in January 2013, in a £1.8m deal and has been one of the stand out performers for Newcastle since his arrival.

Manager Jose Mourinho could be looking to add more depth after loaning out Juan Cuadrado and Mohamed Salah to Serie A giants Juventus and Roma respectively, with him only bringing in one attacking midfield signing, with the arrival of Pedro from Barcelona.

The Newcastle man can also play in a deeper midfield role and could be seen as an alternative to target Paul Pogba, with Mourinho seemingly unconvinced with Cesc Fabregas playing alongside Nemanja Matic.

Magpies fans have ordered another round to help soften the blow, and have a right to be worried about the rumours linking the French international with a move away with Sissoko being quoted as saying he wants to play ‘for one of the biggest clubs’ with a desire to play in the Champions league.
