The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are braced for a busy few days when it comes to transfers…
Though the Blues have remained quiet for much of the window, things have really started to heat up over the last week or 2.
Diego Costa’s future is sorted for now, whilst the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Asmir Begovic all have futures that are, at present, undecided.
Asmir Begovic is, perhaps, the most interesting name out of that list, with Bournemouth reportedly keen on a move for the Bosnian. Chelsea have, reportedly, been keen on Craig Gordon as a replacement – but with a bid rejected for the shot-stopper yesterday, it seemed as though a move was dead in the water.
However, in news that has come as a boost to the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, the Sun are reporting that Craig Gordon’s head has been turned to news of the deal – and there could yet be some way to go before the deal is decided either way.
The Sun are suggesting that Gordon does, at the very least, wish to entertain the idea of a move to Chelsea. Though it doesn’t seem as though he is determined to leave for the Blues – the fact that he is willing to talk to the club does suggest that he is keen on a move.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted about this, as they feel that there is no better player to take up the mantle left behind by Asmir Begovic. At 34-years-old, Gordon has years of experience behind him – and that is absolutely essential for any backup goalkeeper.
Currently Celtic’s first-choice goalkeeper, it is clear that Brendan Rodgers does not want to part with Gordon – but with the allure of Chelsea seemingly ever present, he may have little choice.
