Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we are not at all surprised at the latest offering from the Daily Mail who claim that Edinson Cavani has issued a come and get me plea to Jose Mourinho.
In quotes that are not quite as shameless as Radamel Falcao claiming to love all of Europe’s top club sides who could afford his wages, Cavani has spoken out about his future and claimed that whilst he is happy at Napoli he is in talks with other clubs and is certainly keen to work under the Special One himself.
Cavani is one of the most wanted players in Europe and a forward is top of Mourinho’s list for the second spell in charge at the Bridge and given Rafael Benitez is keen on bringing Fernando Torres to Napoli with him, a swap deal plus some cash could well be on the cards. The Uruguayan forward himself noted: “The Special One? It would be a pleasure to be managed by someone like him.
“Chelsea? I don’t know if they’ve made an offer for me but I know that working for a coach like Pellegrini or Mourinho would be a great pleasure.
“It would certainly be a great honour to join one of the illustrious teams that are looking at me because I dreamed about doing that as a child.”
Will Chelsea eventually win the race for Cavani’s signature? Rate this rumour below.
