Chelsea target in-demand stalwart as Conte eyes defensive rebuild

The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are loving the sound of this…

Chelsea have made an excellent start to life under Antonio Conte, and in truth – most of the Chelsea fans in the Tavern think that their side is the complete article.

Spectacular from defence through to attack, the Blues are impressing in the Premier League at present – and a title challenge looks nailed on at this point.

However, it would appear as though Antonio Conte feels that there is much work to be done – and if ESPN are to be believed, he could be set to launch a January defensive rebuild…

As per sources close to ESPN, Chelsea are reportedly planning a move for German defender Niklas Sule, who is currently playing for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

Sule’s name has been mentioned fairly frequently in the Tavern as of late, having been linked with a number of Premier League sides over the last few months.

Despite being just 21-years-old, Sule has been impressing in the Bundesliga – having already made 86 league appearances for the club.

Standing at 6ft4, Sule is a man mountain in the heart of the defence – and with John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic’s contracts expiring at the end of the season – a move for the next generation of defensive talent makes a lot of sense.

The Chelsea fans in the Tavern are right behind this deal…
