Andriy Yarmolenko has been heavily linked with a big-money exit from Dynamo Kiev, with Jose Mourinho recently scouting him during the international break, whilst Barcelona are also reportedly interested in a move next year.
However, the chances of an exit from Ukraine seemed to be dashed when Yarmolenko signed a new contract yesterday. Crucially though, this was because his previous deal expired at the end of the season- which meant he could have left for free.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the extension was announced, Yarmolenko left the door open for a potential switch to the Premier League or elsewhere, as he said:
“I still want that [to test myself in the best foreign leagues]. I know that if Dynamo get really worthy offers we’ll find an option that satisfies everyone.”
“I want the club to get good compensation for me. I could have left for free in a while, but that would have been wrong.”
Fans in the bar believe that Yarmolenko only signed so that Dynamo Kiev receive a fee for his services and that he may already have a gentleman’s agreement to leave next summer.
