Chelsea target rubbishes January transfer speculation

sneijder.jpgPunters in the Football Transfer Tavern are a little bit surprised to hear the latest offering from Metro, who claim that Jose Mourinho is set to be snubbed by one of his former stars.

As our landlord notes, Mourinho’s relationship with his players is the stuff of legend – and whenever the Special One leaves a club, he always aims to take his favourite players with him. If he does not do that, there are still constant links stating that will happen.

One of Mourinho’s very favourite players has to be former Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder, with whom the Chelsea manager won the treble during their time at the San Siro.

Rumours of a reunion have dogged both the manager and player ever since they parted company, and as our punters note, they have come back with a vengeance.

Putting down their pints, our regulars note that Mourinho already boasts a host of players who are very similar to the Dutchman, and have questioned where he would fit in at Stamford Bridge.

To cast further doubt over the links, Sneijder himself has claimed he is settled in Turkey at Galatasaray and noted to Lig TV: “Everywhere Jose goes, they make some rumours about me following,

“Whatever club I’m at I will give 100%, I love this club and I am not even thinking to leave. It’s just rumours and you will see come January I will be linked with Chelsea again but I am staying here.

“Every transfer market I am apparently moving to one club or another but these are just rumours, I am happy and I like life here.”

Chelsea are of course not the only club who are keen on the playmaker, with Manchester United boss David Moyes also interested.

Will Sneijder stay true to his word and remain in Istanbul? Let us know your thoughts below.
