Chelsea target valued at whopping £38m

Benfica’s Nemanja Matic, who left Stamford Bridge in January 2011 as a makeweight in the £21 million swap deal for centre back David Luiz, is rumoured to be on Jose Mourinho’s wishlist this summer after his return from Real Madrid.

However the Blues have been told that they must pay an incredible £38 million for the midfielder with the Portuguese side desperate to hang on to the Serbian international who recently extended his contract until 2018.

Matic, 20, has emerged as one of the finest young talents in Europe, helping his side reach the Europa League final last month and he could be now move back to London in a mega-bucks transfer.

During his first spell at Stamford Bridge, Matic only made two appearances before he was sold but if the youngster is resigned this summer he would surely be regarded a key player after standing out for Benfica.

Should Chelsea pay the high asking price to secure Matic or move onto other targets? Let us know your thoughts below.
