Chelsea targeting club-record swoop for Atletico Madrid ace

GriezmannChelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see reports suggesting they will smash their transfer record in 2016, by bringing one of Europe’s finest young players to Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho is said to be a huge fan of Antoine Griezmann and the club are now prepared to launch a record bid for the Frenchman, as per reports cited in The Daily Express.

Griezmann has excelled with Atletico Madrid since arriving from Real Sociedad last summer and his stock is expected to rise further in the European Championships next summer, with his France side having high expectations for the tournament on in their own back yard.

Additionally, Fichajes claim that Chelsea see Griezmann as the perfect-replacement for reportedly Real Madrid bound Eden Hazard.

A club-record deal would see Chelsea exceed the £50m they paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres in 2011 and the lads at the bar are hopeful that this deal will turn out better.

Chelsea could face competition though with London rivals Arsenal extremely keen and reportedly plotting a move before Euro 2016.
