Chelsea targeting La Liga schemer as Frank Lampard’s successor

CescFabregasChelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern do not even look interested in the claim coming from the Daily Mail, such is their sadness at Frank Lampard’s departure.

However as our landlord points out, the claim from the Mail is all about the potential replacement for Lampard – Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a move for the midfielder who he knows well from his time in La Liga and of course from watching the star back during his spell across London at Arsenal.

Fabregas is looking for a move from the Camp Nou and is keen to move to a top club in Europe – and Chelsea are certainly that.

Now over a game of pool, our punters make the point that Chelsea are not the only club in the race for Cesc and despite rumours that Arsenal are no longer keen on the star, Manchester United are sniffing around and those links just will not go away.

In the eyes of Chelsea fans it seems that no one can replace the legend that is Frank Lampard, but the creativity and indeed goals that Fabregas can provide may well be a good start.

Chelsea fans. Do you think that Fabregas can do half of what Lampard used to do? Is this a player you should be paying top dollar for? Let us know your thoughts below.
