The Blues head to Merseyside on Wednesday as they look to progress in the first tournament of the season.
Sarri is yet to taste defeat as Chelsea boss in a competitive match and will be keen to see that run continue when they meet the Reds, who also currently remain unbeaten this year.
Pedro is unable to feature for the Blues with a shoulder injury he picked up during their Europa League win against PAOK in Greece last week, whilst Antonio Rudiger will miss out with a groin issue.
The Germany international picked up the problem during last weekend’s draw with West Ham United and had to be replaced by Gary Cahill in the second half, who is likely to feature on Wednesday.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek rounds off the injury concerns that Sarri has, as he suffers from a foot problem.
Chelsea will want to go as far as possible in the competition and could look to use it as an ideal opportunity to give some of their fringe men a chance.
The likes of Eden Hazard and Jorghino could be rested by Sarri with the Premier League fixture in mind, whilst Alvaro Morata could look to lead the line and try and build some confidence up front.
The trio’s absence will be felt, however, the Blues have plenty of players capable of stepping up and filling the void that they will leave.
