Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been worried about who could leave their club this summer, although one deal being reported certainly seems like one they would be open to.
The Sunday Times has revealed Chelsea’s star striker Diego Costa has emerged as the latest target for the Chinese Super League and clubs from the Far East are ready to offer a sensational £72.1m for the signature of the Spanish international.
Costa was a star performer last season as the Blues won the Premier League title but the forward has become highly controversial amongst the British press due to his actions on the field and his performances have been inconsistent.
Since Guus Hiddink replaced Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, Costa has found his form again but with Antonio Conte coming in at the end of the season, a reshuffle could occur that leaves the experienced forward surplus to requirements.
The difficulty for Chelsea is that Alexandre Pato, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy are likely to leave in the summer, so the Blues already need new recruits, but the massive fee offered for Costa could be useful.
However, with the lack of Champions League football Chelsea may find it difficult to lure the sort of target they’re after.
