It is all about Chelsea here in the Football Transfer Tavern today and given the claim from The Sun that is no shocker. It seems that in demand Napoli forward Edinson Cavani is set to snub the club and would favour a move to La Liga instead.
This week the forward’s mother nearly caused a football standstill as she made claims over where her son’s future lies and exactly who he was in talks with and how advanced talks were.
Now it seems that Cavani will not be joining Chelsea but will hold out for a move to Jose Mourinho’s former club – Real Madrid. This news did not however come from his mother – clearly wanting to get in on the action; the Uruguayans father Luis claimed: “The intention of Edinson is to play for a team like Real Madrid.
“That is desire and his preference. When he speaks to his family, our son tells us he wants to play for Real.
“But if he says that publicly it might make a bad impression at Napoli.
“There have been contacts made with the lawyers of Real Madrid and now he expects that the two clubs will talk.
“He is excited about it and is willing to see it through so hopefully they will agree a deal. Who wouldn’t want to play for Real Madrid?”
This of course is more than a little blow for Chelsea and it may well ramp up their chase of Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski.
