Just one of a number of comment’s by Mr.Mourinho in the build up to Inter Milan’s crunch Champions League game against Chelsea.
As if that wasn’t enough to set the tone, Mourinho was also quoted in The Daily Mail as saying
“Chelsea have suffered in the last two years, and it’s no coincidence that their decline happened after I left. I knew there was no time for a long-term plan with the owner they have at Stamford Bridge. You must win the title in your first season or say bye-bye”
As if the encounter needed an extra element of spice, the ‘special one’ criticised his old boss and indicated that his opponent, Ancelotti, ‘is no friend’ of his.
Frank Lampard is set to return to the Chelsea side along with defenders Alex and Juliano Belletti. Lampard has recovered from a virus that kept him out of the weekend win over Wolves. Carlo Ancelotti will have a defensive dilemma after Yury Zhirkov limped off at the weekend. With Ashley Cole out for up to 3 months and Paulo Ferreira not registered, the Italian is without a natural left-back for the trip to the San Siro.
Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar missed training on Monday after being involved in a car accident just outside the club’s San Siro stadium on Sunday night. The Brazilian suffered bruising but sources close to the club have said he should be fit for game. Cristian Chivu, Marco Materazzi and Davide Santon all trained away from the team on Monday.
Mourinho will be going into the game in the knowledge that Inter have not landed the European Cup for 45 years, a figure that the Inter board wished to change in appointing the former Chelsea boss.
Pressure? Pah! That is a word that doesn’t exist in the Special One’s dictionary!
