Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking more and more disappointed with the news from Football Talk that Chelsea are about to beat them to the signature of exciting young Serbian international Lazar Markovic.
The 19-year-old is certainly a talent and both Premier League clubs had been tracking him closely in an attempt to make the first move on the Partizan Belgrade player. Now it seems that it will be the blue of Chelsea and not the red of Liverpool that the £6 million rated player will be pulling on in the near future as Chelsea moved ahead of their rivals in the race for the player.
Markovic enjoys playing just behind the centre forward and is full of talent and creativity – so much so that former Chelsea manager Avram Grant and international team-mate turned Luis Suarez’ snack Ivanovic have both stepped in and tried to convince the attacker to join Chelsea. Last season having scored six goals and assisted the same amount of times, he was a major factor in his side winning the title and now feels that a move to a more high profile league could well be the next step in his career.
